Our Philosophy, Lived Every Day
A philosophy is easy to write down. What matters is whether a child can feel it between drop-off and pick-up.
At Panania Childcare Centre and Panania Preschool-Kindergarten, we call the way our philosophy shows up in ordinary moments the Samsala Way. We lovingly nurture every child's natural development through four shared values: Love, Family, Courage and Spirituality. Here is what each one looks like on an ordinary day.
Love: being known
Both of our centres are small on purpose. With only 39 children at one and 36 at the other, our educators know every child: what makes them laugh, what unsettles them, and what they are fascinated by this week. Babies are held and cherished. Toddlers are given time. A child who feels known settles in and starts to explore.
Family: knowing you belong
We see families as partners. The conversation at drop-off each morning matters to us, because what happens at home shapes the day here. Families are welcome to share their own gifts, skills and traditions with the children. Over time the centre starts to feel like an extension of home, for the children and for their parents.
Courage: the confidence to be brave
Courage in early childhood is small and constant. It is climbing a little higher on the wooden fort, balancing along a log, joining a game for the first time, or telling an educator "no" or "stop" and knowing they will listen. Our days are unhurried, so children have time to try, fail and try again, with a trusted adult close by.
Spirituality: room to wonder
For us, spirituality has nothing to do with religion. It is the wonder a child feels watching the worm farm, picking something they grew in the vegetable garden, or noticing that the season has changed. We protect time for imaginative play, storytelling, stillness and being outdoors, because those are the moments where wonder happens.
Safety underneath it all
None of this is possible unless children feel safe. The wellbeing and best interests of every child come first in every decision we make, and we guide those decisions with care, respect and compassion. You can read more in our commitment to child safety.
