At Panania Childcare, everything we do begins with one word: Samsala.
Samsala represents the joyful, loving child: curious, imaginative, connected and filled with possibility. It gives a name to something that has always been at the heart of Panania. We believe childhood should be treasured, and every child should have the freedom to wonder, imagine, create, belong and become uniquely themselves.
This is what we call the Samsala Way, and it's the heart of how we care for and educate children at Panania.
Where the Samsala Way comes from
Early childhood education has never been just about care for me. It's about honouring childhood.
As an owner and educator, I believe every child deserves to grow in a small, nurturing environment where they are deeply known, genuinely loved and free to discover who they are. Our philosophy has been shaped over the years by our educators, families and children, alongside contemporary early childhood education thinking.
I've also been inspired by principles reflected in Steiner education, particularly its unhurried approach, where imagination, creativity, nature, beauty and wonder are protected rather than rushed. But the Samsala Way is our own. Our centres weave different perspectives together into something unique, which allows us to truly get to know each child and family in our care.
Four values at the heart of everything
The Samsala Way is built on four shared values:
Love: children flourish when they feel deeply known, safe and valued.
Family: we see families as partners, and our community as an extension of the family.
Courage: we give children the confidence to try, explore and be themselves.
Spirituality: we nurture the inner world of the child, and protect their capacity to wonder.
Spirituality, without religion
Spirituality is the value people ask about most, so it's worth being clear. In the Samsala Way, spirituality is not connected to any particular religion or belief system.
It's about nurturing each child's inner world and creating opportunities for wonder, awe, joy, imagination, reflection and a deep sense of connection. We see it in the small and meaningful moments of childhood:
noticing the changing seasons
wondering at something discovered in nature
becoming lost in imaginative play
creating through art and movement
experiencing stillness
showing gratitude and caring for others
developing a sense of belonging in our community
We encourage children to recognise beauty, possibility and meaning in everyday experiences. Through warm relationships, time in nature, creativity, storytelling, reflection and unhurried moments, we support each child's developing sense of self and their connection to the world around them.
For us, spirituality means protecting children's capacity to wonder.
Joyful Freedom: the experience children have

Joyful Freedom grows from authentic connection. When children feel deeply known, safe and valued, they have the confidence to explore their world, and the freedom to express their inherent creativity and imagination. It's the signature of a Panania childhood.
