Spirituality ~ Wonder, Connection & the Inner World of the Child

Here at both our Panania childcare centres, when we say one of our values is spirituality, we don’t mean religion.

To us, spirituality is not connected to any particular religion or belief system. It’s about nurturing the inner world of each child and creating opportunities for them to experience wonder, awe, joy, imagination, reflection and a deep sense of connection.

We see spirituality in the small and meaningful moments of childhood — noticing the changing seasons, wondering at something discovered in nature, becoming lost in imaginative play, creating through art and movement, experiencing stillness, showing gratitude, caring for others and developing a sense of belonging within our community.

We encourage children to be curious about the world around them and to recognise beauty, possibility and meaning in everyday experiences. Through warm relationships, connection with nature, creativity, storytelling, reflection and unhurried moments, we nurture each child's developing sense of self, belonging and connection to the world around them.

For us, spirituality means protecting children's capacity to wonder.
